Picture this. It’s 9:02 AM on a Tuesday. Engr. Adekunle in Bodija taps Post Job for five bricklayers, three days, Yoruba preferred, ₦4,000 a day. By 9:02 AM and four seconds, your phone is buzzing. That’s not a coincidence. Let me show you the path.

The matching model

The moment a job goes live, our matching model runs over every Job Seeker who could plausibly do it. Four factors weigh in:

Skill

Your trade and skill tags from your profile. A bricklayer matches a bricklayer job exactly. A tiler can apply but ranks lower.

Location

Where you live versus where the job is. We expand outward by area, by city, by state, with distance decay. Modakeke to Bodija is in range. Lagos to Kano is not.

Language

The employer might prefer Yoruba. Or Hausa. Or no preference at all. Your languages weigh in. A site contractor in Ile-Ife who wants Yoruba speakers will see Yoruba speakers first.

Economic context

Your standing tier, your on-time rate, your repayment streak, your recent reviews. The model rewards finishing. A Job Seeker who shows up every day ranks above one who ghosts after lunch.
The model is calibrated to Nigerian informal-economy patterns. It runs in under a hundred milliseconds. The ranked list lands in the employer’s dashboard the moment they hit submit — and our system fires alerts to the top candidates on the rails they actually use.

How you hear about a job

It depends on which rails you’re on.
Most common. Message lands inside your existing Guild chat:
Adekunle dey hire 5 bricklayers for Bodija. ₦4,000/day, 3 days. Reply YES to apply, NO to skip, or DETAILS to see more.
Reply YES and our intent engine routes the reply to an apply call. Application ID returned in 240 ms.Reply DETAILS and you get a card with the full description, start date, location pin, and a one-tap apply button.Voice notes work too. Send “yes, I want am” as a voice note. The transcription model reads it. Same outcome.

What happens after you apply

Application goes into the employer’s queue. They see your profile — standing tier, completed jobs in the last sixty days, average review, languages, distance to the job site. They tap Approve or Reject. If they approve, you get a WhatsApp or SMS notification with the start date, time, location, and the foreman’s contact. Show up, do the work, get marked present each day. Foreman cannot mark you present and then erase it — the triggers reject the delete.

The standing tier nudge

Here is the part most Job Seekers don’t realise at first. Every job you complete, every five-star review, every on-time arrival pushes your standing tier up. And the higher your tier, the higher you rank in the matching model. Which means more job alerts. Which means more work. Which means more receipts. It’s a flywheel. Three months of doing the work pulls you to Trusted. Six months gets most people to Established if they’re consistent. From there, the same data lenders read is what you read — you watch your own credit identity build, in real time.
There is no penalty for declining a job. Don’t take work you can’t finish; that hurts your tier more than a polite decline ever would. The model rewards completion, not application count.
